Wellington, New Zealand – 16 March 2025 – Woolchemy is thrilled to announce that neweFlex™ ADL, its innovative plastic-free acquisition distribution layer, has been selected as a finalist in the Nonwovens Roll Goods category at the INDEX™26 Awards, organised by EDANA, the leading European nonwovens industry association.
neweFlex™ ADL contains neweFibre™, Woolchemy’s hygiene-grade wool fibre, which meets strict regulatory standards for non-sterile hygiene products while preserving wool’s natural functionality. Engineered as a plastic-free alternative to petroleum-based ADLs, neweFlex™ is a blend of wool and plant-based fibres, delivering natural benefits including breathability, thermal regulation, and odour control — while remaining naturally compatible with skin.
Wool is a keratin-based fibre, the same structural protein found naturally in human skin, making it an inherently gentle and renewable choice for disposable hygiene products such as diapers and sanitary pads.
“Being recognised as a finalist at the INDEX™26 Awards is a huge validation of our science and innovation,” said Derelee Potroz-Smith, CEO of Woolchemy. “neweFlex™ demonstrates that wool can provide the performance, comfort, and sustainability needed for modern hygiene products — without relying on petroleum-based materials.”
The winner in the Nonwovens Roll Goods category will be announced during the awards ceremony at INDEX™26 on 19 May in Geneva. This nomination follows last year’s recognition of Woolchemy’s neweFibre™ with the IDEA® Raw Material Achievement Award by INDA, further highlighting Woolchemy’s growing impact in the global hygiene materials sector.
